If i can assemble, anyone can

My 16 year old son and i were able to build this in an afternoon. Easy to follow instructions and to be honest its pretty obvious where things go. Most complicated thing was getting my head around the cables and pulleys but just follow the instructions and you’ll be fine. As to usage its great and easy to use. It comes with a list of exercises you can follow but i keep popping on to the internet for new ideas.

    Great product

I’m not into gym equipment, I’ve been to gym a few times, but i feel like this is a solid product, easy to assemble very well balanced, supports more weight than most other similar homegyms on the market. Looks like it can last for ever, with good maintenance. 🙂

    Multiple Workout Possibilities

I already had a good cable machine and weights but adding this to my home gym means I now have everything.I almost did not buy it because I thought it was too cheap. Not sure how they do it for this price but glad that they do!

    Makes me want to workout

I need to tell the truth. My only previous experience with a cable machine was either the old equipment in high school or higher end commercial gym machines.I didn’t have high expectations for a home gym, but the girlfriend mentioned this a few times and she’s pretty smart and has good taste.I’ve paired this with an adjustable bench and dumbbells (all purchased on Amazon, see other reviews). The setup makes me want to workout.Assembly was actually sort of enjoyable and took just a little over an hour after unboxing. The only complaint is the way the hardware is packaged. They have individual packets for steps 1-10, 11-20, etc which is nice, but for example there weren’t enough bolts in the first packet for all the steps it was supposed to cover. You have to steal from the next packet. Luckily overall there are enough parts. I guess what I’m saying is that it could be more accurately organization so that you’re not wondering if there will be enough. The diagrams are fantastic, especially for the cable routing.Onto the important part; usage. This machine is so smooth, no jerky motion, no sticky/catchy spots. The weight is adequate for me (I’m not trying to get huge, just be somewhat fit for 50), available pullies allow you to hit muscle groups from multiple angles. The included pulldown bar is sturdy and has good shape for different hand positions. The set also includes a single handle, cuff and strap for crunches.I would recommend getting some additional carabiners or some heavy duty s hooks if your workout requires quick change over. I may also look into additional handles.Overall I am very happy with this machine’s quality and highly recommend it.

Adjustable (I’m 5 ft) and works great ! Best piece of workout equipment to have at home !

My boyfriend put this mostly together in an evening , he finished it up the following evening after work and we’ve been using it ever since (we had it delivered here to our home) Looks great, works great, very versatile. I can do just about every workout I’d do at the gym. We put interlinkingrubbermats covering the floor and underneath the entire unit . I have dumbells I bought over the years, stability balls workout bandsand a pull up bar ,we’ve both canceled our gym membership and workout at home.

Solid gym, even for tall guys (6’4″)

I have been looking for a home gym for months and every time I thought I found one, it was sold out. I saw this Marcy gym early on because it is so popular on Amazon but shied away because several reviewers mentioned it may not be suitable for tall guys over 6 foot. With availability of home gyms dwindling, I took a chance on this Marcy gym. Shipment took a few weeks but it arrived complete and without damage. The box was heavy so I unpacked it piece by piece and assembled it in a spare bedroom. It took two evenings and probably a total of four hours, making sure I did a solid, no-rush job putting this gym together. All parts fit properly, the screws, nuts, lugs and metal pieces felt solid and filled me with confidence.I am 6’4″ and I am still getting familiar with all exercises that you can do. I watched several YouTube videos that demonstrate how to perform exercises with proper form. My initial concern was that I would not be able to do abdominal exercises but I was wrong, you can! The machine has a 150lbs weight stack and I was concerned that it might not be enough. When I go to the gym I can push/pull more on specific tools but I found that this was not a problem with this gym. Perhaps because the range of motion is different and a bit less than dedicated machines at the gym.And that is the area where I have to admit that I do not have the full range of motion for all exercises since I’m 6’4″ and 187lbs. However after working out multiple times I found that I can work around this and I no longer find this to be a problem. It is all about proper technique and using the home gym vs not being able to work out at all.Perhaps a plus is that this gym actually fits in the small bedroom and there was enough space for a weight rack, a bench and bike setup. I’m stoked and I can recommend this gym.

    Limited Range Of Motion

MWM-4965 – On certain exercises (Chest/Biceps), the cable is not long enough to complete a full range of motion (the weights hit the top of the stack stopping the motion). In addition, the seat is not adjustable causing the weights to hit as well when doing fly exercises. If this product was setup in a store for demo before purchasing, I would not have purchased it for the aforementioned reasons. Since it is already setup, I will not return it. Found a few work arounds – added a yoga pillow to the back seat and added a chain to the bottom cable for bicep curls.

Easy assembly just read, worth my 375!!!!

1 man assembly is capable and not to difficult if you read the directions. When assembling this machine you can can tighten all the screws to the frame it’s cool, but to the arms, pulleys, moving parts, and 2 headed nuts I’d wait till completion of assembly. By myself with no knowledge of assembling workout equipment but I am great with directions so if you are able to understand the diagrams and concepts you’ll be fine or if you have used these kinda machines before you’ll get it. Great directions and the bolts, nuts and screws are placed pretty nicely to were you shouldn’t get confused. I say get a box cutter or knife and take those items out of the as you come to each part with in directions. Now for the range of motion you better use the chain, and also know how to use your form to get you deep workouts when doing standing core exercises. The chain is a great addition to all parts of the machine not just for lat pulldown, use the chain anywhere the clips are if you are tall or have long wingspan. 1 more thing I really don’t like the butterfly concept I wish it had more of a normal chest fly concept and also wish you could do reverse chest fly’s. I got this for under 375 with taxes and free shipping. I would not have purchased this item for the overpriced 900 to 1400 range you see the steel is good but isnt worth more than 375. This machine could be better if it was a tad bigger and had longer cables for taller or men with long wingspan it be great. Machine is versatile enough to work out full body, also this machine can deliver some nice resistance 1 major reason while I say if you can get it for under 600 do it. I’m satisfied and impressed as well, good purchase and can’t wait to have fun with this new toy in the home gym!

    Good all around home gym

Complete walk thru… Received way ahead of the deliver schedule which is great! Thank you. Started assembly, make sure to give yourself plenty of room to lay out all the parts. I love how the screws come on a page labelled laminated cardboard, BUT it’s a bit mis-numbered. Mine missed “part 14”, but the screws were with the part 15-18 section. I was a bit frustrated thinking I would not have all the screws, but I did in fact have all screws once completed. Assembly was pretty easy, took about 3.5 hours to complete. Once done, did a complete workout, arms, chest, back and legs and it felt really nice. I’m 6 feet tall and it fits me ok. Needless to say, I’m glad I bought it. I work from home for about 11 hours a day, so being able to go downstairs and get a 30 min workout in will be very nice. And for the price, you can’t beat that. Looking forward to many workout sessions!!

    Several structural flaws, and limits

I purchased this recently because I wanted a sort of all-in-one machine. I’ve purchased Marcy products before, but not typically one with so many moving parts; usually just a bench or a bar rack. Firstly, I will say that you CAN get a decent workout with this machine. However, you do get what you pay for. At this price point, I think some imperfections are to be expected. I just want to bring attention to these few things in case it sheds light for someone else:The biggest drawback of this machine is range of motion. The main chest press section doesn’t quite go back as far as I’d like, personally, but it’s ok. Also, notice the pic I included that is straight-on of the machine. The main, bench-press system mounts somewhat crooked. I do notice it when I am doing chest presses, but it doesn’t affect it too negatively. You’re supposed to be able to remove the top pins and do flies, but since the extending arms don’t go back far enough, the range of motion is terrible and is pretty useless. I actually liked that this machine had the ability to do flies, so this aspect being unusable was quite disappointing. The cable system for pull downs, press-downs and rows, is pretty short. The pulley system will hit its limit when going through a full range of motion, unless MAYBE if you’re really short, but I still think it would happen. The leg extension part is ok, but you don’t get resistance in your leg until your leg is at or beyond 90 degrees at the knee, which may be a good thing if you have limited mobility or bad knees or something, but I would definitely prefer more resistance with my knee bent at a more acute angle.Hamstring exercises aren’t really possible on this either. The range of motion just isn’t quite right.I’d say the main plus is that there is a good amount of resistance with this machine. So if you can find a handful of exercises that do feel ok on this thing, then you’ll probably also have plenty of weight to work with to get a good workout. All in all, I think I was more ok with paying the $600-ish for this machine then $1000 for a superior one, at least for right now. Maybe in a few years I’ll step up to a better one, hoping this one lasts at least that long.
